"William"

G5 Chestnut Colt
Born Y19
Seattle Lightning x Way To The Stars
Horse Pictured: Irish War Cry
Personality: William is a horse that doesn't seem to have an off button. He's constantly on the move, usually running around his paddock until he's tired. He doesn't seem to understand why he should walk to places when trotting or cantering is faster. To try and burn all that excess energy, it's not uncommon to see him going for a hack once a day with one of the retired horses. He's also very excitable, so we have to introduce him to new ideas slowly. One of the few times he'll stand still is when he sees a filly and then he tries to show off. Or when he has a bath, he'll stand stock still for that. All that being said, he's a smart horse, picking up on what his rider wants quickly, when he's not distracted, which can be often. He's not a mean horse, just a young horse with maybe what people diagnose as ADHD if horses could have it.
William is a horse that has to be in the middle of the pack. While he's a horse that has a lot of energy to burn, he needs to be where he can see other horses. If he's at the front alone, he gets distracted by everything around him and it's not hard for another horse to zoom by him before he realizes they're there. He's a lot better if there's another horse at the front with him, but for his sake, we try to keep him with the pack. At least if he's in the middle, he can't get distracted that easily. Granted, we could always put blinkers on him, but he freaks out, so we keep them off. He has a powerful kick so he can easily break away from the pack towards the end of the race, coming in hot and fast. If somehow he does end up at the front of the field alone, his rider has to keep talking to him to keep the colt's attention off the crowds and stands. He breaks slowly at the gate, allowing the other horses to swarm around him.
